Oxford Planters has sourced a new range of terracotta from the village of Impruneta in Italy. Impruneta is world renown for its high quality clay, and only five factories in the area are awarded the Impruneta stamp of high quality.
Produced in the same building since the 1500s, our terracotta is manufactured in exactly the same meticulous way today as it was 500 years ago. All the pots are made entirely by hand, either in traditional moulds, or coiled layer upon layer.
The current workshop has been in the same family since 1919, and the tradition has been passed down through the generations.
Terracotta from Impruneta has very specific qualities that set it apart from ordinary Tuscan terracotta, and from other pottery from around the world. |
