Obelisks

Technically, not topiary at all, but equally effective as a structural element within the garden and therefore included here. We can offer a wide range of styles and sizes, but the form illustrated here is our most popular. Made from long-lasting Sapele hardwood, the obelisk rises through a lattice of cross bracing to a pinnacle of solid hardwood, carved at the peak into a four-sided spearhead. Elegant, formal and yet hugely versatile, the Obelisk can be used free-standing within a bed or border, or as the centrepiece to one of our magnificent planters.

Plant Species

Using the uprights and lattice for support, the Obelisk is the perfect framework for almost any climbing plant, but is especially eyecatching when bedecked with a profusion of flowers, especially clematis, with supporting evergreen colour supplied by a variegated ivy.

The Obelisk is also a popular feature in the traditional Kitchen Garden, where it can be used not only to support species such as runner beans with their eyecatching red flowers, but also as a bold architectural statement.

Dimensions

Our wooden Obelisks can be made to measure, but our standard size is two metres high with a base of 60 cms, priced at £245.
